Question/Comment:

I was dignoised with lupus in early 1995. For 5 to 8 years I was on plaquinal and then was told I had fibromyalgia. and they thought it was fribo and not lupus. but I still have the antibody of lupus in my blood. What or how to you tell if lupus is from medicine? I have mostly muscel and body aches, plus sleepiness and tired all the time...I never know if its lupus or fribo that is causing my problems...I also have osteoarthris in my whole body and pain most of the time. I use ibupropen for pain, nothing else helps me or I have a reaction to it. I also use flexerill for sleeping at night.

Answer/Reply:

I have Lupus and was dignoised in 2003 when I had my 7th Stroke. The ibupropen helps because it is a inflamation medication. Ask your doctor for Naprosyn. I take two a day one in the morning and one at night. It has really helped me with my Lupus Flair ups. I wish you luck I understand your pain as I have already had 11 strokes, 2 heart attacks, 2 Brain Anurisums, Cardiomyopothy, Congential Heart Failure & Lupus on top of it all. Sometimes I think it is because of the meds I am on, but when I stop taking them I get worst. As long as you get your pain under control you can lead a normal life style. God Bless you and Good Luck. Try the Naposyn it really helps.......................Evidence

Answer/Reply:

People who are abuse to drugs are not able to leave it immediately. But they can try to leave it slowly. The best way is to do exercise daily as it keeps the body fit. They can also visit to drugs treatment centres and take guidance from doctors.

Answer/Reply:

Chew gum or eat sunflowerseeds, that is what I do. I hear that cinnamon is the best to use when you are trying to quit smoking. Mouth wash, Tooth paste, gum or candy. When you get the urge just pop a cinnamon tic tac and you will not want to smoke. If you can do it for three days you will beable to quit......................... Good Luck and God Bless................... Evidence

Seek accupuncture. My hubby was relieved from withdrawals and had no more urges to indulge. It is effective. He had a 20 year addiction.

Question/Comment:

In early September, I ended up at the ER with severe chest pain. I found out that I had fluid around my heart and lungs. I was admitted to the hospital. At some point a Doctor came in to exam me. He seems to think I may have Lupus. I have looked at the reports on Lupus and have six or seven of the side effects. Since then, I have been back to the ER twice. This was due to running out of Prednisone. It seems when I finish the medication, I'll have one or two "good" days, and then I woke with severe leg pain. I could hardly walk. Once I get into the ER they give me a shot of steroids and pain medication. I'm curious if anyone else has the same problem. I only seem to do good when I'm on the steroids. My face has gotten complete fat. Does anyone know if it's ok to stay on steroids for long periods of time? I'm really concerned about having to maybe stay on the steroids. Any information you can give me would be appreciated.

Answer/Reply:

I was on Prednazone for awhile and it made me gain alot of weight. Which was not good for my heart. Steriods are good to keep the inflamation down, which acttully causes the pain, Try Naproxyn it doesn't have the same side effects if any at all. They really helped me and I have had 11 strokes and 2 heart attacks because of the Lupus. Ask your doctor. If that is right for you. I just know it helped me alot. I take it twice a day one in the morning and one at night. I haven't had a real bad Flair up since I been on it reguarly. God Bless and Good Luck.......... Evidence

Question/Comment:

I am 26 and was diagnosed with SLE in 1996. I was in remission for 10 years but had a flare when I was pregnant with my son. The lupus caused me to have him 3 months early at 26 weeks gestation. He is doing fine now but spent 90 days in a NICU. I was wondering if anyone has been on Cellcept and gotten pregnant? My rheumatologist thinks it would be fine to stay on it when we decide to have another child but I have read articles against it. I am currently on 2000mg of Cellcept, 400 mg of Plaquenil and 2.5mg prednisone. Any suggestions for having another child and trying to avoid another preemie??
